Ficus lyrata, commonly known as the Fiddle Leaf Fig, is a popular evergreen ornamental tree native to the tropical rainforests of West Africa. It is renowned for its large, glossy, fiddle-shaped leaves with prominent light green veins, which give the plant its distinctive and elegant appearance. In its natural habitat, Ficus lyrata can grow up to 12–15 m tall, while indoor plants typically reach 1.5–3 m, depending on growing conditions and pruning. The plant thrives in bright, indirect light but can tolerate some gentle morning sunlight. It prefers fertile, well-drained soil, warm temperatures, and moderate humidity. Watering should be done when the top few centimetres of soil become dry, as overwatering may lead to root rot.

Although it produces small, green figs in the wild, flowering and fruiting are uncommon in indoor-grown plants. Regular pruning helps maintain a compact shape and encourages branching, while wiping the leaves clean improves their appearance and photosynthetic efficiency.
